TOP 10 Game-changing Eco-friendly Products (How to live a more sustainable life)

TOP 10 Game-changing Eco-friendly Products US (How to live a more sustainable life)

It is said that Americans are exposed to over 4000 - 10 000 of advertisements every day. That is an enormous number and many of these advertisements go unnoticed to us and are processed in our subconscious mind which in the end is confusing us and making us less likely to make the right desition for ourselves.

I am an advocate that less is more and that excess in materialistic items does not lead to more happiness as most often it leads to the opposite in my opinion. Unfortunately, I feel like it is not the quality of the product which is the strongest selling point but the amount the PR team invested in their campaign (for example when it comes to perfume, you are really mainly paying for the marketing campaigns and not for the ingredients in the product as they are very cheap). Also, planned obsolescence in a horrendous thing and I am so happy the EU is finally somewhat battling against it in the upcoming year of 2021 (manufacturers will be obligated to provide spare parts for their products and have them readily available for 7 to 10 years depending on the product, also they will have to be built in a way that the repair will be possible to do with common tools).

However, the most eco-friendly way will almost always be to cherish the items you already have and if needed to purchase new ones that you will have a look in the pre-loved market or choosing high-quality items sourced ideally from natural, renewable and cruelty-free materials.

Below is a list of items that have truly brought a large benefit into my life and I would like to share them here with you. Please, do only purchase the items if they will bring quality to your life and think through the purchase beforehand.

1. Glass nail file - this glass nail buffer is like magic and perfect for any eco-friendly conscious person and until I really searched for an alternative to nail varnish I had no idea this product existed. Do you know that nail polish is extremely toxic for the earth but for you, too, not possible to recycle and often contains microplastics, also all the toxic nail polish remover and cotton rounds are polluting our Mother Earth on a massive scale? This buffer gives your nails a beautiful sheen like if they were painted with a clear high-shine nail polish, but lasts longer than your normal nail polis,  is toxic-free and perfect for anyone protecting the Earth and even if not it would make a wonderful gift to anyone pregnant, breastfeeding or batteling any disease. It works as a normal nail file, too and you only wash it water and it is good as new over and over again. I wish more people knew about it.

2.  Organic Reusable Cotton Pads We are all familiar with cotton rounds/cotton pads and especially we women use it very often to clean our face and remove makeup. I can not say how much money and waste I have saved using these. They are oh, so soft and packed in the most eco-friendly way. If you ever use cotton rounds in your home I strongly believe you and Mother Earth would benefit from switching to these organic ones which come with a washer bag as well so they can all stay nicely together in the washing machine.

3. Natural Loofah - this in one of the most eco-friendly and sustainable items there are to clean your dishes and use in the shower to wash yourself (acts as stimulating your blood flow, renew your skin and helps with your lymph) and as a facial scrubber. These toxic-free, chemical-free and fully natural loofahs come in their natural state and you can then cut and slice them into your desired size. As with any dish or bath sponge, make sure you keep them clean and blast them in the microwave or leave them in boiling water for minutes to sanitize from time to time. They are fully biodegradable and compostable and arrive in ecologically packaged, too! :)

4. Organic Essential Oils - These Organic 100% essential oils are simply the most amazing introduction into a whole new world of opportunities. All essential oils are fully natural and can aid so much into your well-being from a diffuser to make your mood and stress better, to cleanse the air, to add to your toxic-free cleaning products to make them smell better, to drop some drops into your bath, under your pillow, to make a home mist and so much more. You can create so many combinations and find the perfect for you for any occasion and need. They have truly helped me step away from toxic sprays, toxic scented candles and helped me relax more and aided my breath during my colds.

5. Eco Egg - we are already 2 months into a new decade and the old-school type of washing machine products ale long obsolete. With this Eco Egg you can be making up to a year worth of washings without needing to repurchase it again and it uses natural cleaning pellets that contain no harsh chemicals is hypoallergenic, eco-friendly, non-toxic and money-saving, too! There is a fragrance-free option as well. For the next level eco-friendly person, this is the product to get Organic Soap Nuts.

6. 3 in 1 YETI - this high-quality rambler is the MVP in its category in my opinion. Not only is it the best coffee tumbler I have discovered but you can use it for your cold drink as well as carrying warm baby food or your own food (from soups, porridges to pasta salad). Also, to me the biggest downfall of steel bottles is the difficulty to properly clean them as the neck of the bottle is often very narrow. However, not in this case. You can unscrew the top and reveal a wide bottle opening for an easy clean. If you have an average-sized hand you should be able to clean it with ease as well as air-dry it well in order to keep it going for years to come.

7. Water Filter - this water filter and container stores a lot of water compared to its competition and fits well within a family-sized fridge and will keep your water fresh and cold. Only consider purchasing this water filter if you are currently relying on plastic water bottles.
If you are a next-level eco-friendly person, then consider the 100% Natural Charcoal Filter which are fully natural and is fully plastic-free and zero-waste.

8. Plastic-free Natural Shampoo - Shampoo bars have recently become very popular and I am so happy they are. They take up no space, lasts long (make sure you store it away from water), makes hair smooth, clean and healthy and does not coat your hair strands in a plastic coat which so many of the classic shampoos do. Fully plastic-free, packed in a compostable, biodegradable and recyclable box, sustainable, palm-oil free, vegan and cruelty-free. They have a wider range of products, from conditioners, body blocks, moisturizers, body washes, facial scrubs and more, too, but this is my favorite product of them all (I did not find the facial scrub to suit my skin type as it was too abrasive) otherwise they have been excellent.

9. 100% Natural Dry Shampoo - This dry shampoo is a game-changer in the area of hair beauty. It is handmade, all-natural, non-aerosol, non-toxic and in a perfect size. As a person with oily skin and hair, this product has helped me keep my confidence and a little goes a very long way. Read for yourself. It comes in a shade for darker hair, too: Dry Shampoo - Medium/Dark.

10. Powerful kitchen blender - Unfortunately, a kitchen blender will never be really made of eco-friendly materials but if utilized and cared for well, it can really help you with your cooking at home and make the transition towards a more conscious, natural and cruelty-free life much easier and accessible. From sauces, soups, smoothies, plant-based milk, nice-creams, condiments, nut butter, vegan milkshakes, puddings and more. This will really be a wonderful powerhouse. Just make sure you care for it well so it lasts ages. I could not live without it.

Yes, they really save so much toxicity from entering the water systems and entering our skin,
not talking about all the packaging saved.
Let me know how about your experience, please :)

  2. Some of these I've heard of and some I haven't. I'm really trying but they're not making it easy :/ I'm so glad to see so many helpful ways to help the environment. I'd never thought of using a loofah to wash my dishes! Shared for others and so I'll remember to come back and have a closer look!

    1. Hello and thank you for your lovely comment :)
Yes, it is true that it is not so easy sometimes as often the most easy options are the bad ones. That is why I put together this list (but also have written posts where one does not need to buy a thing) where I feel like that these items are great substitutes for the ,bad items, but do not really require much effort or sacrifice from the consumers side.

    1. Yes, the loofa is great! Even as a body and face scrub but with the dishes and counter top, too:)
For a beautiful woman like you I would recommend the washable cotton pads and the glass nail shiner, too.
The glass nail shiner/buffer is my latest discovery and I can not believe it is not more popular.

    1. Hello dear Nancy, thank you for your lovely comment. Not inly is it a glass nail file but it is also a buffer/shiner.
You simply buff your nail from the top and it looks like you have painted your nails because it is so so shiny!
It is the only item I currently use (no nail varnish, no cotton pads and no nail polish remover) and I will make a post about it in the future as soon as my nails become little bit more presentable :D As I cook so much that my tips are stained with spices and dirty from my nature love and wonky because I am clumsy and often cut my nails and fingers while cooking or grating them on the grater :D I am a long term user of the cotton pads and they are so so so amazing!

  7. Great suggestions! The laundry egg looks so interesting, I've never seen those before. I really want to try some reusable cotton pads this year but my eyes are very sensitive and the fabric they're made from causes me some irritation sometimes so I need to hunt down the softest one I can find to make the sustainable swap x

    1. Hello Sophie, thank you for your kind comment.
Yes, the egg really seem to interest people the most as it really is quite out of the box yet so simple and genius. I am sorry to hear about your sensitivity. It is amazing how the body tells what it needs. Did you already try cotton pads and found them too harsh? Try to give them to a family member or friend so they do not get wasted and try to look at bamboo ones. Bamboo is much softer than cotton and should work much better for you. Or I believe there are some fluffy ones too which should be more soft as well. If you are interested I can have a look for you. Let me know :)
Thank you for stopping by and hope you will have the most wonderful start of the new week :)
